The Google Phone (gPhone) is the most hotly awaited mobile phone since, well… the iPhone, which is going to be released in the UK on the 9th Nov 2007. Every other week a new “leaked” story comes about the Google phone sayingthat is will be released within the next two weeks. All of these stories have been wrong, but now the sources are getting better and Google’s share price went up by over $3 billion following the latest “leaked” story in the Wall Street Journal. They are even some saying that there will never be a google phone, only a google mobile platform.

This would great news for users and the network alike. The iPhone a very sexy gadget but Apple want to squeeze the last drop of money out of users, so they locked it to one network (O2) and slapped on a £269 price tag. Google’s main revenue stream is advertising, so a high price for the handset is not expected. I’m forecasting that the Google phone will be free, Google want the phone in as many people’s hands are they can get.
Google’s company motto is “do no evil”, while Apple’s is “high, high prices”. Come on Apple, you make some great products but your prices are simply too high for the general public.
